Job Description:

The Emergency and Critical Care department is responsible for evaluating/treating patients seen on the triage service and treating hospitalized patients in the Intensive Care ward. This service is looking for part-time veterinary assistants to help technicians and doctors provide excellent patient care.

Primary duties will include assisting the veterinary technicians and clinicians with triage patients and critically ill patients. The assistants would be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the ICU and ER rooms and equipment as well as maintaining inventory and stock in these rooms. This includes the following:

o Animal restraint for catheter placements, bandage changes, anesthesia, etc.

o Transporting patients throughout the hospital

o Walking and feeding patients

o Documentation in medical records

o Assisting with patient intake

o Sweeping, mopping, dusting and organizing

o Basic clean-up after procedures

o Cleaning runs/cages daily

o Restocking and cleaning of stock carts, procedure carts, and crash carts

o Cleaning and properly storing all equipment in the ECC area

o Cleaning and preparing items for sterilization

o Submitting and receiving central stores orders

o Assisting technicians with volunteer orientation and training

This is a 24-hour service. We currently need veterinary assistant coverage for 7 days/nights a week from 10am-2am in both the ER and the ICU. This is a great entry-level opportunity for those interested in the veterinary field, specifically in emergency and critical care.

Advertised Salary:

Starting salary is $11.00 per hour.
